Down Home Brewing Company is Georgia’s first black owned and operated brewing company founded by Chris Reeves. Family-owned and operated, Down Home Brewing creates brews with the goal of having the right brew for you. Whether you are new to beers or are a beer aficionado, we’ve created a selection of beers that increase in complexity and flavor. We currently have 3 different beers out in the market through contract brewing. We are currently in the planning stages of finding the perfect location for our brick and mortar.
Chris Reeves
A home brewer since 2010, Chris Reeves has been testing his craft and receiving feedback from his friends, family, and friends of friends. “Brewing has always been a passion of mine, and with all of the positive responses for all of my home brews, I decided to pursue putting my beers out into the market. I gather inspiration from everyday life. Every day is a new adventure and I wanted to show that through our beers. I learned to enjoy what life has to offer through my grandfather, Hershel Thompson. He was such a big inspiration to me throughout my life. That was my buddy. I wanted to honor his memory and so I decided to bring him back to life as the face of Down Home Brewing Company. I want Down Home to become a legacy for my family, to leave it to my kids and my future grandkids. Showing them that their great-grandfather had such a huge impact on me.”
William Moore
Hailing from the great State of Texas, William Moore moved from Dallas, Texas to Atlanta, Georgia to attend Morehouse College and follow in the footsteps of many great men that came before him. After falling in love with craft beer in college William always knew he wanted to find a way to get into the beer world. After purchasing a home brew kit and shown how to properly brew after an intro to Christopher Reeves, he knew he met someone who would change his life forever. Since then the self proclaimed bromance turned into a partnership to grow Down Home Brewing. William’s experience with project management, networking, and love of craft beer made his contribution and acclimation into the DHB family seamless since 2012. William’s favorite beer quote is modified from the last king of Prussia. “Give me good people who love beer and we will conquer the world.”
Our Mission
It is the mission of Down Home Brewing Company to offer a range of high-quality brews to satisfy every taste bud so that we can introduce everyone to their next favorite brew.
Family is everything
Down Home Brewing’s core values of family, respect, and ambition all stem from Chris’s relationship with Hershel. Chris knew he did not want to do this alone, so he brought on close friend William Allen Moore, as Chief of Operations. William is a Morehouse graduate and beer cicerone, who is also passionate about beer and public health, helps with the day to day operations and events. Chris also brought on his nephew, Darian Reeves, as Down Home Brewing’s brand ambassador. Chris, Will, and Darian, along with Hershel, are the face of Down Home. The Reeves family is also heavily involved behind the scenes truly making this a family-owned and operated business.
